Now>Press>Play!

Posted by Grosvenornews on Sunday May 9, 2021 Under Curriculum

This week, our Now>Press>Play set arrived in school and Year 2 were the first to enjoy an immersive experience of The Great Fire of London.

Now>Press>Play is an immersive audio resource which engages children in the curriculum through emotion, imagination and movement. Every child is given a pair of wireless headphones and, immersed in sound, they become the main character in a story – meeting people, discovering places and solving problems on an educational adventure.

Here are Mrs Lomas and Miss Boardman’s classes during their story experience – as a child living on Pudding Lane when the fire breaks out!

Also, Miss Norris’ Year 3 class experienced an  adventure as an Athenian in Ancient Greece  – involving a trip to Sparta, the Olympic Games and saving the life of their slave!

Life Caravan Visitor in School

Posted by Grosvenornews on Monday May 3, 2021 Under Curriculum

Although we were unable to have the actual ‘Life Caravan’ onsite this year, we welcomed Rachel Hart from Coram Life Education into school last week.

Rachel delivered workshops to all year groups –  developing children’s knowledge, skills, attitudes and values regarding healthy eating, the body and how it works, friendships and their influence, dreams and aspirations and strategies for selfcare and well-being.

Here are photographs of our children enjoying their workshops and meeting Harold The Giraffe – the very popular puppet mascot for Coram’s PSHE curriculum called SCARF. (SCARF = Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience, Friendship)

Under The Same Sky

Posted by Grosvenornews on Monday Feb 8, 2021 Under Curriculum

On Friday 5th February, all children in school and at home joined together to take part in a special ‘Under The Same Sky Project’, which aimed to bring our school community even closer together.

Mr Pridden asked all children to complete one special task – to create a piece of artwork / write a message / write a letter to their friends. Every child will now receive one of these at the beginning of this week via Tapestry or Google Classroom.

Following this task, all children were then asked to SWITCH OFF all screens in order to complete special off-screen activities.

Well done everybody!  Here are some of your messages and photographs of your activities IN SCHOOL and AT HOME:
