Year 6 fire service talk.

Posted by Grosvenornews on Monday Jun 24, 2019 Under Visitors, Year 6

Greater Manchester Fire Service came into school on Friday to speak to the pupils about summer safety. They discussed the dangers of open water swimming and the potential consequences of swimming in open water. Also discussed were the effects of antisocial behaviour on their neighbourhood. The pupils found the talk very informative and were shocked at some of the real-life scenarios they discussed. At the end they summed up what they should do: think about the consequences before you do something.

Year 6 also enjoyed watching Mr. Cronin dress up in their water rescue gear.

Is it hot in here… or is it me?

School Council visit to Wentworth House Care Home

Posted by Grosvenornews on Monday Jun 17, 2019 Under Curriculum, PSHE, School Council

At Grosvenor Road Primary School, we are very keen to make links with people of all ages in our wider community. One way in which we are doing this is through a link with Wentworth House – a local residential care home for the elderly. On Thursday 13th June, members of our School Council visited the residents there to help them to celebrate their ‘Alzheimer’s UK Cupcake Day’. The children helped to judge the cupcakes which had been decorated by the residents, played games, chatted to the residents about our school, presented prizes and enjoyed refreshments. Our visit was very well received and we look forward to visiting again next month with our choir.

Grosvenor Road Writing and Drawing Competition

Posted by Grosvenornews on Friday May 3, 2019 Under Curriculum

In Monday’s assembly, we announced the winners of our ‘Grosvenor Road Writing and Drawing Competition’ which we launched on World Book Day. We had a fantastic response from the children and the staff loved reading through all the fantastic stories. The stories were so imaginative that it was very difficult to decide on a winner for each class.
In KS2 the drawing competition was to choose a front cover for our new Reading Journals. It was so difficult that we ended up choosing picture for the front cover and one for the back cover!
Take a look at all the winning entries by following this link:
